A sub sect of the Kulin Brahmins, who migrated to Bengal from Uttar Pradesh, Rahis are those who settled at the south or southwest region of the Ganges River. Mukherjee, Banerjee, Chatterjee, Bhattacharya, Ghoshal, Ganguly are some common Rarhi surnames.
